Fairfield County's the Elm Street Diner, located  in Stamford, is so fun it was named one of the 10 most outrageous places for desserts by Yelp.

Located at 463 Elm St., the diner is a social media darling with foodies and Yelpers alike who are often seen snapping photos of their food to post online.

Some favorite and perhaps the most popular is the WOW Waffle Tower which includes two large Belgian waffles, ice cream, layer cake, donuts, candy, assorted toppings, and whipped cream.

They are also known for their famous shakes loaded with entire slices of cake, doughnuts, ice cream bars, and much more, stacked burgers, loaded sandwiches (Yelpers say try the burrito), and loaded sandwiches.

But besides the "outrageous," Elm Street also serves up plenty of five-star food and offers much-hyped brunch on weekends.

The entire diner is said to be contemporary and fun with a serving staff that matches the hype, according to local foodies.

Here's what one Yelper had to say: "Amazing food and choices. My husband had the short rib burrito that had an injection of cheese, mozzarella sticks, short ribs, onions, French fries, and sauce. It was a huge burrito and there will likely be two more meals.

The Greek salad was very good and even included grape leaves. The star of the show was the strawberry cheesecake pancake shake it was a huge portion with amazing goodies stacked on top, on the sides, and inside."

One note: Come hungry and ready to wait, they don't take reservations and the line can be long. Prices are medium to high.

So put on your stretchy pants and take the challenge of enjoying one of the country's most "outrageous" desserts.
